§7

Attention as Edge Operator / Intention as UV Input

Attention raises bond dimension. Intention sets the UV boundary.

Attention is not selection from a finished picture

In MERA, bond dimension χ at a layer determines how many distinct M-states can be distinguished at that scale. Attention increases local χ at the α-Connection in the attended region: more edge modes activate, more M-information translates into C-experience per unit area. Attended experience is richer because attention literally increases edge-mode capacity. Inattention is not ignoring an existing representation. It is failing to generate one.

Intention is not a C-level shove

In Novus Horner, the UV boundary condition is where nested evaluation begins — the outermost coefficient, which every later evaluation multiplies into. Intention sets that UV condition. It specifies the direction from which M-to-C projection begins. It does not push events around in spacetime. It orients the edge toward a sub-manifold of M, from which subsequent evaluation projects into C. Directed intention is a MERA evaluation from a specific UV state. Undirected intention is evaluation from a maximally mixed UV state. Both produce C-outcomes. Only the directed one correlates them with the intended direction.

EQ-8

Attention: χ(region, μ_bio) → χ + Δχ_att

I(translated, attended) increases by α · Δχ_att

Phenomenology: higher-resolution experience where attention is. Intention is the UV coefficient, not a force in C.
